Local veteran family receive mortgage free home!
NeighborWorks Home Solutions worked in conjunction with Bill Perdue of BP Quality Homes, the Council Bluffs Planning Department, Pottawattamie County Veterans Affairs, and numerous businesses and community members in order to provide the Smith Family with a beautiful mortgage free home. The dedication ceremony took place on Friday, 11 November, Veterans Day.

Organizations, businesses team up to build home for veteran
It started with an idea. Homebuilder Bill Perdue was speaking with his friend and cohort Dan Ozaydin of Heartland Properties. We were talking about veterans,” said Perdue, who operates BP Quality Homes. “I said it’d be neat to build a new home for a veteran and give it to ‘em with no strings attached, give it to ‘em free and clear.” The idea grew.
Former elementary school site set for redevelopment
The metro school families fought so hard to save will come down, but Council Bluffs Community Schools said it's upholding its commitment to neighbors to make the property's redevelopment purposeful. The Council Bluffs School Board approved selling the Walnut Grove property near 28th and Avenue to a nonprofit organization.
